Our problem is that our program is run by a collection of Jerry Jones type individuals. You can get by with that in the pros but its a recipe for disaster and mediocrity at the college level. I pray we have success and that that success convinces the prominent boosters to not meddle and just let our guy coach and do his job.

With a school like Texas they can go from being irrelevant to a power house in a short amount of time. Before Saban even Bama had went through a long stretch of being irrelevant. with schools like that once they start winning it’s a lot easier to build on that success into becoming a juggernaut

If the city of Austin ever gets real with major league sports (NBA, NFL, MLB) you can kiss that football program goodbye. They have a unique situation in that they’re located in the heart of one of the 10th largest cities in the U.S., but they have no professional sports programs. Eventually, major league sports will make their way in and fracture UTs monopoly on sports in Austin. The boosters know this, and they’re probably the ones blocking professional sports in Austin.

The sec has 14 teams, one great team in Alabama, one great season by a transfer in Joe Burrow, that’s it.
It’s Alabama and the 13 dwarfs. The sec needs Alabama, without Bama the sec is Average, no other school is s threat, Georgia never lives up to the hype, Florida hasn’t been relevant since Tebow, LSU has athletes, but can never seem to get a QB, with the lone exception of Burrow and Joe Brady to guide the passing game, both are long gone, now it’s back to same ole LSU, and for the fans who chant sec sec, it doesn’t make your team relevant just because your sec team gets the privilege of wearing the same conference logo as Bama, and you get to watch your team get boat raced every yr by Bama.

As a Texas alumnus and fan of Texas sports, I can admit that the truth hurts. It’s a not nationally relevant football program these days, and the only that will change that is sustained success on the field. And it’s no secret that we have too many “Buddy Garrett” type BMDs who feel like their financial support entitles to access and influence. It’s frustrating to know that we have access to great recruiting, facilities, legit academics, desirable location, and of course the money. None of that does much good with the amount of political nonsense and meddling that the coaches and AD have to negotiate.

Paul Finebaum sugarcoats nothing. Sadly, he is correct. The UT alums have not a done a service to past coaches. There needs to be a unified message coming from a singular source- the AD to the coach. Look at the coaches who have done well the past decade- Saban, Riley, and Urban- they are the unquestioned boss and given anonymity. The alums at UT are being foolish.
